Positive Paranoia - everyone is laughing with me and they think I don't know
Business Card released by Everyday Samething. Inteli-ambient brain-worm for your preconscious mind in the face of the overwhelming indifference of life.
Hello!
Everyday Samething are pleased to announce Positive Paranoia - everyone is laughing with me and they think I don't know is now available as a limited edition business card.
FFO: Kevin Drumm, Gavin Bryars, The Voice.
What was that you just saw out of the corner of your eye? Someone looking at you? No don't be silly. But wait, you just saw it again, now they are whispering to their friend, you're not imagining it, they must be saying they like your hair. They all recognise you and they've heard your really funny.
This is the meaning of positive paranoia as far as we can discern, which chimes chillingly with this albums title 'everyone is laughing with me and they think I don't know'. The album deals with patterns of circular thinking and has a deeply meditative quality albeit a potentially unsettling one. Featuring two solipsistic drone whiteouts, presumably intended to be listened to in sequence, we are gradually pulverised by the repeated phrase "people won't speak to you unless you speak to them, they're not very worried about what you do, you know like, people don't speak", built up to be set free and then gradually pulled back down into the same idea. It feels meaningful, but what actually is the meaning?
Is this music actively encouraging us to let ourselves loose and indulge in the blissful psychosis of positive paranoia? or are we being sobered from both positive and negative paranoia with the uncomfortable knowledge that the world and the all people in it are ultimately indifferent to us?
You can listen to Positive Paranoia - People Talk pt.2 from the album here

Positive Paranoia themselves offer very little in the way of explanation, telling us only 'laugh and the world laughs with you, cry and you cry alone'. For now we'll let you be the judge, email directly for purchase options.
Many thanks
