Lawrence Perrier - Browse
Spending too much time shopping online? not as much as Lawrence Perrier
Everyday Samething are pleased to present new 4 track Cassette from Lawrence Perrier, ‘Browse’. Following up last years ‘Hotline Hold Music 2022-2023’ in collaboration with Aggie Rigg, Lawrence Perrier returns to Everyday Samething with a 4 track EP of softly spoken sub-heavy drone.
Somewhat of a departure from our last release involving these two, this EP deals in a much colder sound palette of aggressively digital and disorientating low pitched drones. The second two tracks on ‘Browse’ do once again find Perrier at a counterpoint to lush supporting vocals courtesy of Rigg. However this time around the lyrical content of the EP is restricted rather specifically to text taken from google reviews, leaving us with something that at points sounds horribly like some kind of AI generated concept duet from a near future where people have no longer any need to express themselves except for when reviewing goods and services.
Despite the ostensibly functional subject matter, the lyrical content of this album holds some kind of precious information which its authors are unknowingly bestowing upon us, LP believes that by reading someones reviews we gain a window to their hopes, their dreams and their disappointments, and all within a convenient numerical grading system corresponding to their emotional state.
Over the course of 20 minutes Browse see’s us inspect reviews from products such as:
A Hidden Camera Alarm Clock
Evian Water
Transparent Plastic Sheeting
A Running Shoe
Browse is released on 6 December as an extremely limited run of 20-minute cassettes, packaged in transparent casing and bubblewrap with one sided info-card. Lawrence Perrier would like to extend a warm Thank You to anyone who wrote a review that was included in this music.
Track 4 Mastered by Dominic Glare @ DeclaredSound.
Many Thanks
